What is Mexico doing to secure it's borders?

Okay, so we've all heard about the issues going on along the US-Mexican Border. It seems as if illegal immigrants are just pouring through the border, but hasn't this been a problem for a while? I used to live in an apartment complex that was labeled "Little Mexico" because of the number of illegal immigrants that lived there comfortably. I've caught a Hispanic co-worker on the phone once hooking up his "buddies" with where to get fake green cards. Oh yeah, that was almost 10 years ago.

Okay, so they're on the news now talking about what to do with the "12 million" illegal aliens that are here already. If they refuse to get legal, send them home! That's what we've always done. If they refuse to get legal citizenship status they're just here taking advantage of certain liberties and benefits they can't get back home without paying the taxes to support them. How hard is this? Okay, so D.C. is over there debating what to do about it's debt, and can't just throw money at the problem like they usually do.

But in all this, I've done the googling, and I cannot find anything about what Mexico is doing about the problem. Why would they do anything about it? Their criminal element is leaving the country, they're probably happy about this. But the fact remains is that we need to hold them responsible for upholding security on their side of the border. They're a poor country, but not as poor as some countries. They can afford to spend a few bucks to amp up security on their side, can't they?

I'm not saying that we shouldn't delegate all responsibility to our neighbors to the south, but they should share some of the duties of a border. In the meantime, our president has sent some National Guard to the area, which worked in the 90's, but as soon as somebody says that those guys are done there the problem will be right back again. Perhaps instead of fighting futile wars we should spend some of that money enabling our border patrol to be as well equipped as the world's best fighting force.

In the meantime, you can always join the Border Patrol
